Getting an F from a paper or essay that I have done and spent most of my efforts is indeed a serious matter. More often than not, F simply means disappointment and negative emotions for most of the students, more especially among those who thought that they deserve better than it. From a personal point of view, getting an F is really a demoralizing experience, especially when I believe that I have done my best and anticipated a more positive outcome. Apart from having negative feelings or emotions, getting an F could lead to a more serious outcome such as the momentary loss of confidence.
