that is very cool...I worry about the critters that would wonder into my home! Right now, I will not let my dogs outside without me because of a serious black widow problem. A doggie door would be super convenient, but my little guys just hold it until I am home or use a piddle pad!

I dunno about this one. I think my chicken would just peck the bejesus out of the door and crap all over the linoleum.

I'll glad open the door whenever my baby wants to go out or come in. No children = spoiled pets!

I wouldnt mine this one day but i would be afraid if other critters let them selfs in as well. or if someone figured out how to get it open and get inside the house?

I've seen similar doors at pet stores for much cheaper. Some use magnets and some use infra red. I assume that a clever burglar intent on breaking into your home could just buy the special collar and use it himself, but it would keep other critters in the neighborhood out.

I have a memory of housesitting for my grandparents when I was little and my mom lost the keys and i got in my squeezing through the cat/doggy door. I was like 6 and super skinny. I wonder how well sealed this is. We use the AC all summer long so I wouldn't want it leaking out through the doggy door. But I would totally get this for Bop. He's small enough that the door could be small and no one could fit through it to break in.

i think i wanna put a doggy door going from my bedroom to my livingroom because ALWAYS at the most inappropriate times the cats and dog want to be let in or out of the room.

Yeah, I think if our dogs were to ever see a burglar or animal on the outside of the dog door trying to get in, the first thing they would do is run over to the door to check it out....which means they get close enough to the door so that the sensors on their collars would cause it to open anyway. If that's the case, then it doesn't really seem any more secure than an ordinary dog/cat door.

We've always had a "doggy door" (as it was term in our house) and it makes me crazy when I have to house-sit for people whose dogs have to be let in, then let back out, then let back in...so the idea of the collar is pretty cool, because then it would still be safe.
