1. I came back from a holiday in Croatia to attend the centenary celebration of my alma mater, Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid or Sultan Abdul Hamid College recently.
2. It was a sentimental occasion. Seeing the old school, quite unchanged since I was admitted into Primary I way back in 1932 brought back many sweet/sad memories.
3. The centenary was more meaningful to me because the school was founded by my father who was also its first headmaster. He used to tell me of his experiences when he was headmaster there.
4. It was not in the present building of course. It was housed in a wooden Malay house in the middle of the town of Alor Star. Called the GES or Government English School, he had Malaysia's first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman as one of his students.
5. My father died in 1962. I thought he would like me to attend the centenary. I felt very nostalgic of the good old days when he used to teach me and my brother mathematics.
6. Before I was born he was sent to Pahang to teach at a school in Raub. Then he was sent to Johore to teach at an English school there.
7. Those were very distant places and he had to travel by boat with my mother and my eldest sister. My mother's second child, also a girl was born in Pahang. Mahadi my mother's eldest son was born in Johor Bahru.
8. Father got tired of shifting house and traveling to strange places. He came back to Alor Star and applied for an auditor's job with the Kedah Government.
9. Although his name is Mohamad bin Iskandar, people generally call him "Master" or Mohamad Iskandar. To honour him the primary school attached to Sultan Abdul Hamid College was named "Sekolah Iskandar" inadvertently honouring my grandfather instead. I have never complained.
10. At the main ceremony on the morning of Saturday 26th July the College named three ex-collegiate as the Collegiate of the Centenary. HRH the Sultan was the first, second came Tunku Abdul Rahman and I felt greatly honoured to be named as the third Collegiate of the Centenary. It would be another century before anyone will get this award.
11. To be able to study at the GES was a great privilege in those days. This was the first and only Government English School in Kedah. There were only 30 boys from the whole of Kedah admitted each year. I was one of the lucky ones.
12. Going to school was thrilling to me and I couldn't wait for school holidays to end.
13. I did fairly well and my Senior Cambridge Examinations result was good enough for me to be admitted into the medical faculty of the King Edward VII College of Medicine. I was given financial aid which was not a scholarship. The British Colonial Government apparently practised affirmative action because all my Chinese and Indian classmates had far better results than me. The examination results of the other six Malay students were even worse than mine. There were 70 plus students in all.
14. I owed my teachers in school a great deal. Only one of them, Mr. Zain, is alive today. He was a great teacher and spoke grammatically correct English all the time.
15. Schooling was such a great experience and I recall with fondness many rewarding events that I went through.
16. I hope and pray that all Malaysians remember their school days and the part that school plays in their lives. Getting an education right up to University level is easy now. But we must nevertheless feel grateful for there are more than one billion illiterate people in the world. For them the future promises very little.

Dear Dr. Mahathir,
Tahniah sempena KSAH menyambut perayaan 100 tahun. Semoga Allah memberkati KSAH selama-lamanya.
Magni Nominis Umbra... Once a tiger is always a tiger.
Penggunaan bahasa inggeris dlm pembelajaran science & math; saya sokokng tapi ramai yang saya dengar tak sokong. Apa pandangan Tun pula?

Dear Tun, thanks for bringing us down the memory lane. I was your opposite - couldn't wait for the school holidays to start! But I love my university days. Yes Malaysians have a lot to be thankful for.
U r great!!!
Must be great for all of you. Tahniah

assalamulaikum tun...saya sgt2 sayangkan tun.
Sir, its refereshing to note that your former school (administrators) are not behaving like the leaders and a majority of members of your former political party.
If there is one BIG mistake that the younger generation should avoid emulating Umno and the Malays is the way the treat you now.
Dear Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad,
May God Continue To Shower His Blessings On You, Sir!
(This is my family's daily prayer for you and Dr.Siti Hasmah)
Salams Tun.
It is good to reminisce the good old days eh! Do write more of your memoirs.

Asalamualaikum wbt,
Apa khabar..
sekian,
terima kasih.
Salam Tun,
Ahh...school days. Innocent days. I didn't get a chance to go to a "fancy" school but even then, my school taught me life long lessons. University life was also another experience.
Students need to be just that for their 4 to 6 years in universities. There is no need to be heavily involved in politics. There is nothing wrong to have an opinion and support your own brand of politics but those 4 to 6 years are crucial in nation building.
Great post Tun. Its sometimes good to talk about something else. Its a reminder that they are other important stuffs than just politics :)
salam buat tun m sekeluarga..
Terima Kasih Tun.
Assalamualaikum YB Tun,
It's quite a nostalgic and touching indeed. Reminds me to pay a visit to my old school somewhere in Peninsula Malaysia. You're a prolific writer as I always love to read your thinking and ideas in many of your articles. Keep up the good community service and may Allah bless you with good health & happiness.
Tahniah Tun !
Not in a hundred years will there be another one like you.

ex-MRSM Langkawi n MRSM Mersing.
Assalammualaikum Tun..
Terima kasih
Dear Tun,
I was a student of MRSM Langkawi, a product of your vision.
On an island you so zealously developed.
That's a great honor for me, Tun.
p/s: Is there any chance you still remember our little meeting at Langkawi Falls in 2004?
There's even a gift from my family in your Galeri Perdana. A great honor it is!
Thank you Tun!

Ybgh Tun.
Alangkah baiknya jika pelajar zaman sekarang mencontohi generasi zaman dahulu. Zaman sekarang ni, kemudahan sekolah banyak disediakan oleh kerajaan setelah negara dah merdeka. Tapi pelajar2 terutama org melayu kita kurang sangat mengambil peduli ttg pelajaran.
Interesting.
Tun,
How old is Mr. Zain?

Dear Tun,
My school Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR) in Ipoh, celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. My alma mater was meant for the bright kampung boys after Merdeka. I hope to send my eldest boy there next year.
Dear Tun, were really proud that one of the school building was officiated by you when you were the Minister of Education.
To say that the old boys are proud of our school would be an understatement. The school was our lives. We left our kampungs and our difficult lives and were given chance to have proper place to stay and to learn. And we succeed. Thank you Sir.
Even now, we will still stand up, rose up to sing the Ilmu Panduan Hidup school song.
Bangunlah wahai teman-temanku
Berkorban segenap tenagamu
Bersama berusaha
Membangunkan bangsa
Serta tanah air kita
Bangunlah tuntut segala ilmu
Tunjukkan kebaktianmu
Jangan membuang masa
Dengannya sia-sia
Kerna Ilmu Panduan Hidup
Hi Tok Det,
1. Primary and Secondary School days were fun times for me.
2. Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Sultan Hishamuddin Alam Shah and Sekolah Menengah Maxwell.
3. My primary school celebrated its centenary in 1988 when i was only 12. Seems like a long time ago. The late Sultan of Selangor graced the event.
4. Maxwell was notorious for having gangsters. I remember being really scared going there on the 1st day of school. Reflecting on my time there, things were not as bad as it was touted to be.
5. It was a learning experience going there. It was a chance for me to meet really good friends; Ravi, Poh Yee and Nizam. Very muhibah. The school did live up to its name. The headmaster's car was torched on my last day as a form 5 student.
6. It was his pride and joy.
7. My father in law asked my three times just to confirm i studied in Maxwell, expecting the answer to change if it was asked enough times. :)

Salam Tun,
Memang seronok teringatkan zaman sekolah sekarang ni. Tapi nak buat camana. Masa dah berlalu.

Alhamdulillah Malaysia meningkat maju bermula zaman Tun ...
TERIMA KASIH AYAHANDAKU, TUN DR.M!
Nostalgia kami dengan TUN amat bernilai!

Tun, Thanks for all the nice memories of those golden old days.We all have that memories that comes back once in a while especially wfen driving my kids to school. But one thing that still leave me in the dark is WHY this gov't don't fund chinese schools.Come and look at the conditions of chinese school in sarawak. They are surviving on day to day basis. The facilities at those school are worst than those chicken pens.Yeah! you and I have good memories but there millions who can't have 'chicken pens school' as a good memories.Leaking roof, rotten ladders,no toilet papers, sitting on the dirty floor, stale food, hot classroom etc don't leave behind good old school days memories.Do you think so??
Asalamulaikum Tun,
My dad was also a scholar in KSAH, I myself was schooled in Iskandar but never made it to KSAH since my dad was transfered. It is interesting that you had brought up history, as i believe without the past we cannot look forward to the future.
I would also like to record my appreciation to Tun for being the only house visiting Doctor at that time in Alor Setar and one who took time to come to my grand dad's house in his dying days in Sungai Korok. U stayed on although u knew that time was not on my grandad's side. This has been related to me numerous time by my late father and this is how I would like to remember Tun.
But you did not give the same quality english education that got you where you are, to the rest of Malaysian students!
Just what if all the rest of the malay students in the country got the same kind of high quality english education that you got? Where would the malays have been today?
Asslmkm TUN yg dihormati
Saya tahu skolah tu kat mana, saya juga org aloq staq dulu. famous la sek iskandar, siapa dapat masuk sek tu mmg dah bagus, tp saya pi sek convent dr rendah smpai menengah. Rumah saya dulu kira dekat juga dgn kolej sultn abdul hamid, mmg saya dulu jealous tengok budak kolej sbb depa nak kawan dgn bdk sultanah asma je, budak convent depa tk mau.Masa tu tahun 70an, tp budak convent pandai speaking mcm TUN. Saya geram bila org marah sains dan maths diajar dlm BI,tak rugi pun kalau pandai speaking, ianya satu kelebihan kan TUN.
Take care Tun n Ibu Hasmah.
Assalamualaikum wbkht,
Semoga Allah terus jua melahirkan pejuang bangsa seperti Tun insyaAllah.
Salam TUN Dr M,
Congratulation for being named the third Collegiate of the Centenary. It is certainly a great memory. Frankly speaking, this great memories are without doubt due to good and dedicated teachers, schoolmate who shared the same vision to excel and the physical environment of the school. On another note, I do observe that primary school children in Australia or abroad are often more excited and happy than schooling in Malaysia. It is very interesting to analyse this phenomenon.
One of the main factors is that the school children here are not pressured with syllabus and the teachers here are more concern of children develoment and expression. Of course in the end the parents have to guide them what is good and bad expressions. But at that age it is important to make sure that the children feel happy and always wanting to go to school (exactly similar to TUN's excitement). They have the right principle that parents and teachers have an important role to play on children develoment. For this they always invite parents to come to school on certain occasions.
Unlike some of the public school in Malaysia, teachers always regard that parents responsibilities are only at home. Thus, parents grivences/suggestion can only be noted in the parents and teachers associations which are conducted annually. When the children have difficulties in school, parents are not allowed even in the compound. Even when parents are in the school the teachers are always feel insecure. There were at time that parents are not even being greeted by teachers. I clearly remember in my last visit to the public school in Malaysia, I could here the shouting of the teacher to another school children in about 50 to 80meter away from where I was standing. This is solely my personal experience dealing with the public school in Malaysia (suprisingly the public school was in KL and not in the suburb (hulu kampung)). It may not happen in other schools.
I have no suggestion to improve the situations but I think those teachers who are not dedicated and take the job as the last resort should be sent to 'boot camp'. Just like what Judge Ian Chin's experience. It is better there than making the children frightened to school.

Dear Tun,
I wish I could go back to my alma mater,
Cochrane Road Secondary School (CRS) in Kuala Lumpur.
CRS boasted of having the largest field in a school, having the most disciplined prefects among other schools in W.P. zone back in the 80s.
Cochranean prefects are the only group of students known back then to wear their prefect's uniforms in full. They will wear their neck ties perfectly the moment they leave their house. If they are in prefect's uniform, they must not be seen without a neck ties properly worn.
Those are the good old days and after reading your blog, it does bring back fond memories of what has happened in school back then.
This, however, has came to an end. It was supposed to be demolished in the name of development.
Strange enough, my old school is still around, intact 1 year after it is supposed to be torn down.
Cochraneans though, have since been moved to a new school about 1 km away in which they have to share a small field with another school.
I know, a good school is not only about the size of its field, but I am only sad that it has to be relocated a few years ago even though the old school is still here today.
If only they can come back.
Nice to know the personal side of Tun.
Assalamualaikum Tun,
semoga tun sentiasa sihat, dipanjangkan umur dan terus menjana idea2 hebat untuk pembangunan malaysia, bangsa dan agama. ternyata Tun seorang pemikir yang hebat memandangkan perkara yg berlaku berpuluh tahun dulu masih lagi segar diingatan Tun..
asalamualikum Tun,
I love to read your blog, you will always be my hero. I just wish I can take photograph with u soon. Just don't get it why some people hate u so much when people from the other countries respect u. Work at Sudan before in isolated area (Heglig), even people from this small town know and highly respect u when i told them i'm from Malaysia.
Semoga Tun sihat sentiasa dan diberkati Allah s.w.t
Salam Tun... Adakah KSAH akan mencapai kembali zaman kegemilangannya seperti dulu? Saya rasa tidak lagi selagi orang-orang politik mencampuri urusan pentadbiran sekolah.. Wasalam Tun

assalamualaikum Tun,
Semasa didlm Dewan KSAH tempohhari, saya lihat Tun sihat walafiat.
Saya berdoa agar Tun sekeluarga sihat walafiat.

Dear Tun,
The majestic pillars fronting the SAHC and overlooking the green really bring back fond memories studying at this premier college.
The Putra Wing and Hang Tuah Wing of the college's hostel has witnessed students of various races and faiths coming from far away interiors of the state to live and study as one big family. Saturday had always been a great day as the hostelites were given freedom to roam around the town from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm.
It is certainly nostalgic to walk the memory lanes of SAHC, my alma mater too.
Salam Tun,
your old school story make me remind back my great year time in school..how amazing and full of colouring time..lastly happy anniversary to both of you..we love you...peace and wassalam
Dear Tun,
I felt the same towards my alma mater too - St Michael's Institution Ipoh. Education is very important. I have been active in PTA of my daugher's school for the last 4 years. I found that quality of teachers today are questionable. Gone are teachers like the good old days. Dedicated, smart and have lots of passion in teaching and most of all respected by the students. With "makan gaji attitude", most teachers today dont care about the quality of their teaching, they "ponteng" class and left the class unattended. Yesterday my daughter complained about a teacher who dont know how to teach !! Imagine a 11 year old making that kind of comment !
MOE been coming up with fancy concepts like Sekolah Bestari, Cluster school, E-Learning and other money wasting initiatives, most of these initiatives have blur objectives. Lets start with basic - what we really want is good teachers especially in the primary schools where it serves as the foundation of education. Primary school is where a child learn starting from zero.
Hishamuddin, please look into this, go the schools, talk to teachers (not administrators) have a one-on-one sessions, heart to heart talk and understand what is the real issue. If you keep talking to your officers in MOE, you will be filled with "BS", that is, if you are not too busy campaigning for UMNO vice-presidency....
Salam Tun n chedet.com fan...
What a sweet memories from Tun...
Sekarang.... Pak LahAP, i don't c any light from him!!!
Take care Tun...
Salam Tun dan semua,
1. Tahniah kerana dipilih "Collegiate of the Centenary" .
2. KSAH dulu memang lah cemerlang zaman Tun dan sebelum 1970s kot. Sekarang tak lagi kot. Kerana pada lepas 1970s, sistem pendidikan Kedah dah berubah. Pi sekolah ikut alamat rumah. Contoh saya pi Sekolah Tunku Abdul Halim dekat Teluk Wanjah. Lepas tu automatically transferred to Sekolah Menengah yang telah ditetapkan(Tak boleh bagitau nama sekolah, Nanti kawan sekolah tahu siapa saya!OrangLama). Jadi masa tu KSAH bukan lagi sekolah terpilih.
Budak tak minat cikgu zaman dulu marah depa habis2. Zaman saya dulu pun ada bapa2 belasah cikgu kerana cikgu lanyak anak dia. tetapi cikgu dulu hebat, tak lah lembik macam cik gu sekarang. sikit2 nak mengadu. sikit2 kata beban sekolah banyak. tak habis 2 nkata gaji cikgu tak cukup. Tak habis nak cuti. Kat England, cikgu depa sangat berdedikasi. Kalau ada peluang hantarlah ramai2 cikgu Malaysia pi sekolah rendah sana pi tengok kalau tak percaya. Kalau orang complain depa cepat2 ambil tindakan positif. Cik Gu Malaysia kalau complain siaplah anak siapa ni?
Kalau kita semua imbas kembali zaman persekolahan kita.
Tun,
Dengan izin;
People,
1. I believe what Tun wants us to know is not so much about him! I think he wants us to reminisce, think, and look back on how much we have progressed and developed as a nation with its unique blends of cultures, traditions and heritages (the only one in the world!).
2. Tun wants us to appreciate what we are having now (or had before now ...?) as opposed to what they had then. Life was so simple and meaningful. Nowadays, it is all about greed, materialistic, egos, "kiasus", etc, etc, which are bringing us to self-idolization, and over-indulgence, and if we do not halt this bad habits, it would be to self-destruction.
3. Tun wants us to be independent! He wants us to think for ourselves! He wants us to realize that we have gone so far to turn back now! He wants us to move forward! He wants perfection from us (like how he described his Cikgu Zain!) He wants us to progress further, and not leave this nation to our future generation in shambles! He wants the world for us! He wants only the best for us! He wants......
Think people! Perjalanan kita dah bertambah jauh! Are we going to let this situation continues? Let us look at the bigger picture!

Assalamualaikum YABhg. Tun
Tahniah diatas penganugerahan "Collegiate of the Centenary" daripada SAHC.
Setiap kali melalui Jalan Langgar saya pasti memberitahu anak-anak bahawa inilah sekolah dimana saya pernah belajar.
alhamdullilah
saya berjaya juga memperolehi segulung ijazah
ibu bapa saya sering menceritakan bagaimana peritnya mereka
semoga tun sentiasa sehat disamoing keluarga tercinta
Your post touches me personally, as my father too was a headmaster and I joined his school for my primary education. The most memorable day was the first day in school, I was so excited to meet new friends and making jokes at the back of the class. Then the HM (him) passed by, saw the commotion and duly came in and presented me with a big tight slap in the face. It certainly made his son remembered to mind his manners. He passed away 14 years ago and I missed him. It may sound cliche, but you reminds me of him - your kind yet strict way.
Salam Tun,
"I hope and pray that all Malaysians remember their school days and the part that school plays in their lives. Getting an education right up to University level is easy now. But we must nevertheless feel grateful for there are more than one billion illiterate people in the world. For them the future promises very little"
Saya sangat bersetuju dengan pernyataan ini. Ianya membuatkan saya teringatkan kembali kenangan-kenangan manis tatkala zaman persekolahan.
Terima kasih Tun kerana berkongsi cerita zaman persekolahan Tun.
Dearest Tun,
Those good old school days....if only I can turn back time...
tun....
thank for sharing your nostalgic story...
semoga betambah sihat dan diberkati dunia dan akhirat...
Tun.... i am admire you since i am joint umno 1985 (if i am not mistaken)... until now.
Schools days always bring a lot of good and bad memories for most of us. Some are humorous ones - standing on a table as punishment, cooking instant noodle using the same pail we wash our clothes with, wearing your dad's shirt & tie for prom and many more. I attended one primary school & four secondary schools, and surely they have had good influences on what I am today.
Sy bngga jd anak mlsia sbb Tun.
andaikata zmn kelahiran sy d PM kn oleh Pak Lah, sy rela brhijrah ke Indon
Tun,
Tq for your great story.
Kenapa masa Tun jadi PM Tun tak kasik berjuta-juta duit untuk sekolah Tun? Macam org tu bagi pada sekolahnya?
Assalammualaikum Ayahanda Tun,
Aminnnnn ....
Dear Tun,
All of us remember our school days and the part that school plays in our lives, and we will do our part as parents to ensure our kids treasure while making good use of their school days. We really hope the current government will consider continuing with Tun's idea of teaching maths & science in English. I was studying in Spore in engineering after failed to enrol into the course of my choice in local university despite scoring flying colors in my STPM. All of my Malaysian schoolmates then including myself had to struggle, not only to cope with the hectic course works, but the translation of language that we need to go thru as well. How i wish we would had known all those english terms in our subjects eg physics, chemistry, maths etc - that will made our lives so much easy and we can catch up with our studies much easier.
Tun, we the non bumis had sacrificed since young and encouraged by our parents to study hard, knowing that the education policy in msia is not easy to us in particular those who couldn't afford overseas. We fought everyday until STPM hoping to get a place in local university, and we always think positively that by working harder, it is to our own benefit too. When we obtained good results, we apply to local university our choice of course, and we were heartbroken when we were not only didn't granted the course, but given a course totally differ from our wish. To add salt into the wound, we found out our bumis classmate was given good courses in top universities when they only managed to pass all the 5 subjects. Then we turn to our only resort, to apply to the nearest and cheapest overseas university - eg. Spore. We even apply the free interest study loan there and all our application was granted - we felt been fairly treated eventhough not in our own country. We struggled doing part time jobs to survive while facing hectic course works. After graduation, we were offered jobs in Spore and bonded 3 years for the tuition fee grant that we took (not even 1 rejected this substantial offer) - many of us applied for PR and stay while having families there, only very very few of us (like mysely) returned to our country.
Tun, this is definately not the path that we the ordinary non bumis malaysian wish our children will have in future. Policy might not change overnight and we have to accept that we are non bumis. But the government shouldn't abolish something that will at least ease our pain while studying overseas, in fact they shall laud Tun's suggestion to use English language for at least science and maths.
We all love u Tun.
Tun,
A very good morning. Sultan Abdul Hamid College is a beautiful college in Alor Star, still charming indeed. Although i'm never study there but i had a few oppurtunity to visit the college & sit for some exams there during my schooldays.
Thanks for the memories.

yes certainly schools of yesteryears are much different from what it is now. Back then i remembered one Mr. Inder Singh, our school supervisor, a larger than life figure who struck fears among all students with his 4ft long rotans. You wouldnt want to taste the smack of it. I had a taste of it (but then again who have not)but it bore me no grudges. Thinking of it now kind of make sense that if we spare the rod we spoil the child. Mr Inder is long gone now but beneath the mr incredible mask that he wore our Mr Inder is indeed one gentle creature. Thanks Tun for bringing back old memories. Shalom.

VERY GUD MORNING TO U TUN,
What a sweet memmories you had from your golden days in school. Well this is what we want not to forget our days in school and they were really sweet and beautiful.
These pple are really kacang lupa kan kulit dan tak sedar dari mana kah asal usul mereka sebelum ni. Adakah ini sikap ahli MP BN sebenarnye??
May God bless u Tun.
what about our flip flop pm???he always forget about everything :) keep on writing tun...
Assalamualaikum Tun.
Yeah...for them the future promises very little.
Terima kasih Tun.
Dapatlah saya pinjam basikal tua bapak. Bayangkan Tun, kanak-kanak perempuan umur 8 atau 9 tahun naik basikal gerago... nak naik palang basikal pun tak sampai! Kalau naik basikal mesti berbunyi tag.. tag... tag...
Dear Tun,
Refreshing the old fond memory was always end up sentimentally whether it is happy/sad day
Especially for working adult, we always wish we were still young to enjoy what we have miss out during our yound time. As for young guy, they r frsutuated with their school day which need exams, submit assignment, they wish they grow up fast and don't need this kind of torture anymore.....
Tun,
No one is perfect....and it is very touching for me to see Tun admit on your acedemy result which is not as good as other in the class. Many will just keep this to themselve unlike Tun sharing it.
Many Thanks!!
Salam Tun..
Terima kasih Tun...
what a nostalgic memoir...now feel like i miss my schooling memories...tq tun for a great writing...
Assalamualaikum.
A'kum Tun,
Tahniah KSAH sempena ulang tahun ke 100. Juga warga KSAH 1980-1986. Amat berbangga dengan ayah Tun yang tentunya bersusah payah menubuhkan KSAH untuk memberi pendidikan kpd ribuan penduduk sekitar kawasan utara termasuk juga sebilangan kecil penduduk Sabah menerusi Yayasan Sabah.
Hidup KSAH.
Dearest Tun,
Salam sejahtera to you n family!
It was indeed a very soothing piece of article that you have written this time. I am a teacher by profession and when you could literally remember your teacher, Mr Zain, it somehow touched my heart! Thank you Tun.....
Tun,
sweet memories last forever..!
i hope you keep writing books and publish them.you are also a great writer apart from great leader & thinker.
ramai yg salah faham on why Tun stress math & science be conducted in english..even ramai yg tak setuju.
1) murid2 yg 'mother tongue' berbahasa melayu sgt susah nak faham soalan matematik dlm english (esp. luarbandar).soalan yg 'tricky' dlm bahasa engish pula menyebabkan ada kalangan murid2 yg sampai menangis tak tahu nak buat ..!(tak tahu buat & tak faham serta takut kena marah ibubapa kalau fail!)
2) guru2 sendiri tak tahu & tak mahir berbahasa english dan seringkali tidak dapat menyampaikan pengajaran yg berkesan kpd murid2,menyebabkan segala2nya bertambah merosot, drp pengajaran yg tak mahir dan murid2 yg bosan & stress sebab tak faham english ditambah pula tak faham sbjek matematik itu sendiri.it's a double doomed!
3)kurangnya kefahaman & kesedaran dikalangan ibubapa ttg pentingnya ketiga2 subjek tersebut(ENGLISH,math & sains) dlam kehidupan hari ini.
pendapat saya,
melihatkan betapa merudumnya pencapaian math & sains dikalangan murid2 melayu adalah wajar sekali jika di PERKASAkan dulu bahasa enggeris. jika dilihat pada anak2 saya, mereka suka belajar bahasa enggeris kerana guru yg mengajarnya tahu cara 'stimulate' minat mereka.actually, english is fun to be learned! dgn approach mengajar yg berkesan, menyeronokkan dan hanya satu setengah jam seminggu!
bangsa kita akan di hormati terus jika kaya dgn ilmu dunia & (jgn sesekali lupa) ilmu akhirat, bekal alam yg kekal!! .
belajar bahasa lain bukan meminggir bahasa ibunda. lihat lah dr segi positif iatu, menambah ilmu bahasa dunia, itu saja!
Assalamualaikum Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Siti Hasmah.
Wishing you both a very Happy Anniversary.

Askm Tun,
Thanks for bringing the sweet/sad fond memories during school times. Without doubt, school was the place where we acquired knowledge and built our personalities. One question that I would like to ask is about boarding schools that we practice today which is mainly for malays, is it still relevant? I notice that by not mixing with other races in this global age, our competitiveness has sharply reduce. In the real world, malay has to compete with chinese, indians etc. but because of this boarding schools (malays only) we fail or become inferior in dealing with the non-malays. Many malays become inferior and non assertive compare to non malays. When it comes to decision making, the malays always bow down. Pls comment.
Good morning Dr M
Walking down memory lane with u brings all of us closer to u even more. It has been an eventful journey for us malaysians in your reign but nevertheless a great ride u gave us. To me u will always be our Dr M, our leader of all times.
It is a pity u did not create a position like what Lee Kuan Yew did for himself. Realistically I know it is pointless with all the "if only's". We can only look forward strategically but unfortunately the end of the tunnel is not too bright if wannabe leaders do not act responsibly tempered with some bravery if I may add.
I agree totally that we should be grateful with what education has given us. A stepping stone and a better life for all. The standard of education has gone down compared to even my time, which was the late 70's upto the 90's. Comparatively, we are of course better off than many but we should also strive to be better still if not on par with the countries which have so-called high standards of education. Holistically speaking. I believe that with you education is a lifestyle and not an obligation. This is what you would want to instill in all of us if you could. Im not only referring to formal education but a lifelong education. I would like to thank you for being a lover of Malaysia and for bringing us to where we are today. I am sure u must be tired of hearing repeats of this. Unfortunately u have too many fans Dr M....
Ciao
yeah.. love school.. everybody have bittersweet memory..
Salam Tun..
After reading this, I felt as if I'm reading part of your memoir. I hope you could write more about your days as a University student and later as a politician..
Anyway, I'm still hoping to get a chance to meet you again to discuss about my future plans in OUM.
I always feel you are like my own grandfather.
Salam...

Assalamualaikum Tun,
Something lightening and sweet from you Tun.. Nostalgia, Membuatkan kita terkenang kembali dan hargai zaman persekolahan kita..
I agree with cool80.. Kenapa mempertikaikan 'Wawasan 2020'?.. The target was set and it was quite close when Tun Mahathir was our Prime Minister.. It was quite achievable kalau kita ada kaptain yang berwibawa, cekap, fokus, rajin & dedikasi.
It been said, dalam keaadan sekarang, we are like 10 years behind..
Dalam kepimpinan sekarang memang kerajaan tak ready, dan keaadan ekonomi kebanyakan rakyat dah semakin meleset. Suasana pun tidak begitu aman lagi.. Siapa yang harus dipertanggungjawabkan??
Is that why, the target has to be set + another 30 years?..
Disebabkan kelalaian mereka & pergolakan politik serta tak pandai nak manage, PM sekarang pandai2 ubah.. Nampak sangat kelemahannya...
Lagi sekali, dunia & bangsa lain mentertawakan kita.. And again we been 'badawied'..
Anyway, I like to congratulate Tun, your blog has visitors of more than 4.5Million in 3 months.. Not bad ye Tun.. Pecah Malaysian record tak?
Take care Tun & don't worry so much..
Salam Tun,
Thank you Tun sebab sudi share with us. Harap Tun sentiasa sihat walafiat.
Assalamualaikum Tun

Dear Tun
1.Talking about school and education in Malaysia,I would like to thank you for giving the equal opportunity to boys and girls ( men and women) to pursue highest education in the country and abroad.
2.However, what happens to the boys? More girls especially Malay girls are studying in the universities. They produce better examination results every year. You did mentioned this in one of your speech previously.
3.Perhaps your biggest mistake in the century is actually giving equal opportunity to malay girls and they end-up become better students than the boys. Women are now holding various important positions in the country.......thanks again Tun for your mistake...not all mistakes are bad actually.
Mak Lang
Salam Tun!
I love this. This is so nostalgic!
Cheyan
Tun,
It's not often we get to read or hear stories about your young time! Heh! Heh! heh! heh!
I enjoyed reading this article very much. Well, not to say that the rest of the articles you have written are not enjoyable.. err.. some are too deep for a bunny like me! Anyway, yes, we must all remember our school days and the part it has played in our lives. I enjoyed my school days tremendously and will always give credit to my alma mater and its then headmistress.
Salam buat Tun serta Keluarga,
Those were they days........
Hidup Tun!
YAB Tun,
Thank God Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid still have the intelligence to honour leaders of the nation - a far cry from Abdullah's UMNO lack of respect for your contribution to UMNO and the nation.
Assalamualaikum Tun,

Dearest Tun,
Yes, it wasn't easy in those days...but you did it. I solute you. Presently, these are but a distant memories to some but the younger generations do not know these meanings. I hope this writing will give inspiration to people to work hard in whatever that they are doing...histories are not recorded for people to go backward, but in itself, people should find the basis to move forward and refine themselves.
Thank you sir. Warmest regards to you and your family.
Tun semoga sihat selalu di samping keluarga.
Tun saya merasa amat terharu sekali bila membaca keratan ini.
You are the one and only. Truth will prevail. Dont worry Tun.
God Bless You and Family.
Ah the good old schooling days.
Salam Tun,
Congratulation for being one of the three collegiates of the centenary of Sekolah Iskandar. This means the school was founded in 1908 and the next three collegiates will only be selected in 2108.
Moreso, the school was founded by your father, and it's best products include two Prime Ministers. No other primary school can repeat Sekolah Iskandar's achievement.
Again, my sincere "Tahniah".
Tun.. time change, people changed.. but.. the determination still remain !
Assalamualikum Ayahanda Tun
You are always have been my greatest inspiration. Glad that I went to the same school you did. Happy 100 year-old to our beloved SAHC.

Assalamualaikum Tun,
Terima kasih sebab pernah menjadi cikgu saya...

Assalamualaikum Ayahnda Tun,
semoga Allah memberkati Ayahnda sekeluarga, Amin
Assalamualaikum Ayahanda ,
Selamat ulang tahun perkahwinan ke 52 . Semoga Allah mengurniakan kesihatan yg baik buat Ayahanda & Bonda serta panjang umur .
A very good day to you TUN DR MAHATHIR,
It is nice to be part of the student at a an old century school. I, myself never had a chance to enroll in any of this kind of school. I did try to apply- but my result was just "cukup makan" only. Therefore, I only manage to enrolled into the normal Sek.Kebangsaan.
Ive no complain about the Sek.Kebangsaan, and Ive no problem at all in studying in such school. Is just that, Ive nothing to proud of abt my Sek.Kebangsaan. The facilities during those days of mine, was OK. I still remember when the first time the school installed the internet at our library. It was in 1995, we were all every eager to use the computer. I even stay back after schooling, just to use the computer. It was very fascinating.
But during my time - there was a revolution in the culture among the school pupils, practically in major towns such as Kuala Lumpur. The revolution was not about traditional culture, but an attitude revolution. Yes, during my time- many pupils start to taking cigarettes, drugs, skipped school,
